Wat Nong Lom

NongLom Temple, an abandoned temple is situated near the canal and wall of Wieng Ta Kan (The uppermost canals and northern walls). It was named by local people calling lowland which was flooded and having a lot of swamps around there. This temple was excavated by the Fine Art Department in 2000 CE.

The temple consists of the Vihara and stupa. The Vihara turned to the east, and situated in front of the stupa. There are remains of the stupa including, a front base and a low board. Furthermore, The Fine Arts Department also discovered that this Lannastupa was repaired. Its aligning was similar to other historical sites in Wieng Ta Kan for instance, KlangMeung temple and Huakuang temple and so on.

There are many ancient artifacts from the end of Hariphunchai period to the end of Lanna period (19-22 century BE) including, baked clay Buddha statues, decorated animal sculptures, earthenwares from San Kam Pang kiln and Wieng Kalong kiln, pieces of Ming dynasty porcelains, Vietnamese porcelains and they also found the Fak Kham alphabet in the brick inscriptionas well. Referring to these artifacts, this historical had been existed continually since Hariphunchal period until the end of Lanna period (17"-22 century BE).
