Wat Prajao Saen Sae (Wiang Tha Kan archaeological site)

Wat Prajao Saen Sae

Prajao Saen Sae temple is located in the northeast of Wieng Ta Kan, right next to the north of Prajao Kum temple. The temple was excavated by The Fine Arts Department in 2009 CE.

There were 2 main buildings in the temple. The one was Uposatha hall and the other was the public building for utility. Two buildings were aligned in the east to the west. The temple's walls and the unknown aligning bricks had been traced too. All these buildings might be parts of Prajao Kam or the same temple.

According to the excavation, the Fine Arts Department found that there were pieces of Hariphunchai earthenware, pieces of porcelain from Wieng Kalong kiln, Pann kiln and San Kam Pang kiln, Ming dynasty porcelain and the base of bronze Buddha statue Due to all discovered artifacts, this historical site had been built in 18"-21" century BE.
