Wat TonKork (abandoned) - WiangThakan

Wat Tonkork (abandoned) is situated out of the west side of Wiang Thakan. It is one of totally 23 Buddhist temples that we found the ruin and artifact trace. According to the Archaeological excavation and restoration process by Department of Fine Arts recently, discovering the important primitive community developing since Haripunchai period (8th-13th CE) until LanNa period (14th 16th CE). These appearances compose the various styles of pofteries, while the monuments are diffused. Beside the main Stupa and Vihara, We found the ruin of two small basement (can not identify exactly the real function, because of the big damage state, nevertheless it still only some trace of incompletely the range of brick). We found also the ruin of bathroom with well inside and toilet at the North, in the monastic domain. The result of excavation process in the middle side near the North-West of Stupa base, present the Habitation Layer of LanNa period, it is not as old as to Haripunchai period.
